Jess + Alex
It was one of the hottest days of the summer but that didn’t stop Alex and Jess being SUPER COOL! Having a ceremony at the Botanical Gardens and the reception at the Mowbray means your guests get to experience two very different sides of Sheffield. They both celebrate unique architecture and give your images contrast and diversity.
I spent the morning documenting Jess and her bridal party getting ready at her home before we popped over to the Botanical Gardens. It has to be one of the most photogenic spots to shoot in the City as it always looks fabulous all year round. The glass pavillions are so distinctive and house tropical plants that make it a photographers dream all year around.
Once Alex and Jess said their “I Do’s” I took them for a few relaxed portraits in the glasshouse and had a little wonder around the gardens. A champagne reception was waiting for them at The Mowbray and their lucky guests (and me!) were able to experience some of the finest food Sheffield has to offer.
After the speeches, guests mingled on the roof terrace and this is where I caught Jess escaping up the stairs with a pint… once of my favorite images of the year!
Another bonus at the Mowbray, is the urban backdrop it is nestled in. I love having a stroll after dessert to catch the sunset and smash out some portraits. The textured walls and the industrial buildings are perfect to shoot against. The street art is forever changing so there is always something new to shoot against.
