A year in the life of a Sheffield wedding photographer

A year in the life of a Sheffield Wedding Photographer

As a Sheffield wedding photographer, I have selected my favourite wedding and engagement  photographs from the year which showcase my blended style of documentary and portrait photography. This year a has simply been AMAZING. I have been lucky to work with the most lovely couples who have worked hard to create meaningful and exciting  and most importantly, FUN wedding days. I suppose I feel lucky as I am invited to collaborate with my couples on one of the most important days of their lives. This is why I don’t simply take photos of their wedding day. I like to construct a narrative of the day, paying attention to the little details that you might miss because you literally can’t be everywhere at once!
I have also witnessed a few things this year that I don’t think I could have predicted. Such as: A groom splitting his trousers by doing too many high kicks, a dancing taco, a father and daughter riding down the aisle on a tandem bike and karaoke during the  ceremony. I also went on an adventure where I photographed an elopmement across Paris, Venice and Verona. You can see a little highlight video I made of this here

As I was a teacher in a previous life, learning is a big part of my photography practice. As part of my continuing professional development, I invested in attending the SNAP photography festival, with  five days of intensive talks, workshops and informal talks with my fellow wedding photography peers. Investing in learning has been important to ensure I grow technically and creatively as well as having systems in place to make sure my couples are getting an awesome service after I have photographed their wedding.

I am incredibly honoured to be a Sheffield wedding photographer, and can’t wait to see what  2018 has in store!
