Tom + Emma

A Sun Soaked Yorkshire Wedding, with peachy tones

Good morning! As I write this on a cloudy and cold May day (Seriously, May?!), I had to revisit a sunny and warm October wedding to cheer me up! It’s the perfect pick-me-up – Emma and Tom have such a sweet connection and a really cool style. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I have to admit, I was obsessing over Emma’s sleeves for most of the day – they were absolutely stunning!

How It Started:

I’ll start by sharing Emma and Tom’s BEAUT of a day! It all began at a beautiful light and airy Airbnb in Harrogate, where Emma was getting ready with her bridesmaids and mum. Scoffs catered a lovely breakfast spread – such a good idea for pre-wedding jitters! (Trust me, as a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I’ve seen the struggle!) If I have ever shot your wedding, you know I will be checking to make sure you are hydrated and that you get those canapés!

Meanwhile, a blue vintage VW van driven by a wicked female driver (whose name escapes me, darn it!) waited in the driveway to whisk the Bridal Party away. Back at the Sun Pavilion, guests were already arriving on the terrace for the ceremony greeted by Tom and his best man Ben. This venue offers two options – a stunning glass dome for indoor ceremonies if the weather isn’t cooperating.

Sexy Light:

The light was particularly sexy! So I played with some of the direct harsh light that created gorgeous shadows and highlights. and I think gives the story some lovely vignettes. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I love capturing these unique moments with the play of light to create atmosphere.

The Portraits:

I love it when we can have some of the group shots on stairs, so I was able to get one of my most favorite ever “Everybody” photos. I love it when everyone gets on board for this! The Pavilion is surrounded by Grade II listed gardens, so we had a little walk around and took some couple portraits, the sun was still out, and surprisingly , not so much golden tones for this time of year, but still lush.

The Reception:

We went back inside for a pretty epic entrance down the stairs and Emma and Tom were greeted by their nearest and dearest followed by plenty of tears, after, and face palms during the speeches. The Terrace was a great spot to get some fresh air and a cup of tea to limber up for the party! Compassionate Kitchen whipped up a cake that is worthy of it’s own canvas ! Topped with a little rat bride and groom, a nod to their fur babies.

Alright, I might have gotten a little carried away here! But hopefully, you enjoyed this glimpse into Emma and Tom’s lovely wedding, bursting with creativity thanks to their vision. A huge thank you to these two wonderful humans for letting me capture their special day!
